The guidance counsellor service

STUDENTS ARE INVOLVED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THEIR CAREER PLAN

The guidance service is managed by an Information and Guidance Resource Staff (PRIO) who assists students in their choices and the steps they need to take to pursue their studies in higher education. The PRIO also works in conjunction with the head teachers (professeurs principaux) and the families. Each year the school defines a programme of actions orientation related for students and families: information meetings, career fairs, individual interviews, CV writing workshops, presentations of schools and universities, and observation internships.

THE “PARCOURS AVENIR”

The Parcours Avenir program enables students from Grade 7 (5ème) to Grade 12 (Terminale) to progressively develop real guidance and career-planning skills throughout their secondary education.
Through this program, students are encouraged to understand the economic and professional world, to discover the diversity of careers and training opportunities, to develop their sense of commitment and initiative, and to design their own academic and career plans.

To help our students build and refine their career goals, several reliable resources are available to them:

  • ONISEP: to explore careers, academic pathways, and training programs in France — a valuable tool for thinking about one’s professional future.

  • Parcoursup: the essential platform for learning about post-secondary programs in France and submitting one’s application.

  • Campus France: the reference website for international students wishing to pursue higher education in France. It provides all the necessary information about application procedures, institutions, and administrative formalities.

👉 ONISEP : www.onisep.fr
👉 Parcoursup : www.parcoursup.fr
👉 Campus France : www.campusfrance.org

These tools are essential to support our students in their educational and career choices and to help them confidently prepare for their future.

AGORA

To help them make their choices, students have access to the AGORA platform, a collaborative network of high school students and former students of the AEFE. Agora brings together French high schools from all over the world and is dedicated to orientation.

AGORA is:

  • A directory: search for former AEFE students. Contact students from other French schools abroad.
  • A forum: to enable high school students to communicate with each other and to exchange with former students in order to benefit from their experiences and build a career plan or find out about student life in France or abroad.
  • An experiences’ sharing space with geolocated students profiles.
  • Interviews: read and view testimonials from former students about their studies and careers

G12

G12 (for Grade 12 or Terminale) is a platform created by a former student of Lycée Bonaparte. It allows current Grade 12 students to obtain first-hand information about the universities they wish to apply to, directly from alumni currently studying there.
To do so, simply click here to log in and create your profile.

“Elles Bougent” Club

Lycée Bonaparte is partnering with the association Elles Bougent, whose mission is to challenge gender stereotypes in industry and encourage young girls to consider careers in scientific and technological fields.

This club is open to students from Grade 9 (3ème) to Grade 12 (Terminale) and offers events throughout the year, such as:

  • Talks with women working in technical and scientific fields

  • Online meetings with mentors from the association who present to our students the professional opportunities offered by engineering and technical degrees

  • Visits to industrial sites in Qatar, guided by women engineers

“Demystifying engineering studies, breaking down stereotypes about industry, and showcasing the diversity of careers — that’s the challenge taken up by Elles Bougent.”
